What shall we do with the Drunken Sailor

Lyrics:

What'll we do with a drunken sailor,
What'll we do with a drunken sailor,
What'll we do with a drunken sailor,
Earl-aye in the morning?

Chorus:
Way hay and up she rises
Patent blocks o' diff'rent sizes,
Way hay and up she rises
Earl-aye in the morning

1. Sling him in the long boat till he's sober,
2. Keep him there and make 'im bale 'er.
3. Pull out the plug and wet him all over,
4. Take 'im and shake 'im, try an' wake 'im.
5. Trice him up in a runnin' bowline.
6. Give 'im a taste of the bosun's rope-end.
7. Give 'im a dose of salt and water.
8. Stick on 'is back a mustard plaster.
9. Shave his belly with a rusty razor.
10. Send him up the crow's nest till he falls down,
11. Tie him to the taffrail when she's yardarm under,
12. Put him in the scuppers with a hose-pipe on him.
13. Soak 'im in oil till he sprouts flippers.
14. Put him in the guard room till he's sober.
15. Put him in bed with the captain's daughter*).
16. Take the Baby and call it Bo'sun.
17. Turn him over and drive him windward.
18. Put him in the scuffs until the horse bites on him.
19. Heave him by the leg and with a rung console him.
20. That's what we'll do with the drunken sailor.

*) A relative of the cat-o-nine-tails

This innocent little nursery rhyme has become the latest victim of our dear government's politically correct crusade. Link here.

A government funded body ( where else of course) has replaced the familiar lyrics with these

PIRATES AHOY!
What shall we do with the grumpy pirate?
What shall we do with the grumpy pirate?
What shall we do with the grumpy pirate?
Early in the morning

Hooray and up she rises
Hooray and up she rises
Hooray and up she rises
Early in the morning

Do a little jig and make him smile
Do a little jig and make him smile
Do a little jig and make him smile
Early in the morning

It doesn't have the same ring to it and I for one don't like it being dumbed down.
Seems the Torygraph are also running the story

Last year, a story based on the Three Little Pigs fairy tale was turned down by a government agency's awards panel as the subject matter could offend Muslims.

A digital book, re-telling the classic story, was rejected by judges who warned that "the use of pigs raises cultural issues".

However, a study in 2004 showed that nursery rhymes exposed children to far more violent incidents than an average evening watching television - including Humpty Dumpty's serious head injury.

This is governmental interference on a high scale What next?

This post will be earlaye in the morning.

Blog Second Anniversary

This blog is two years old today. It has been a long road, and I have travelled it, and made lots of new friends and strengthened some old friendships along the way. It has opened new directions, and opened my eyes to the world. I have opened my eyes to the internet, embraced twitter recently, used facebook and widgetbox, managed to make a facebook app, and at one point even had the ability to text message the blog to mobile phones. It has made me aware of other bloggers, politics, the state of the world and brought me closer to new technologies.

I want to extend my regards to those of you who have helped, commented, visited, and helped me in my quest and engaged me in discussion and shown me different things in which to extend and explore further within the blogosphere and beyond.

To my readership which has been global, I want to thank you for coming here and for those who follow me a big vote of thanks for encouraging me.

Happy 2nd Blogiversary.

For the GMC thorn in my side

Zimbabwe abandons its currency

Zimbabwe has finally abandoned its trillion dollar currency which was worthless in anycase, As one teacher mentions on the BBC link it costs him $2 US to get to work and he is only paid the equivalent of $1 a month even though that is trillions of Zim dollars.

We already have the spectre of inflation ruining our pound which has fallen steadily in value over the last 100 years.

I went out to buy food today, my father handed me a 20 pound note, but the prices were such that I almost spent double that and that was with shopping around trying to get the best value for those pounds, Lidl, Netto, Morrisons, Marks and Spencer and Asda all had a visit.

Famous Quotes (8)

"Owners of capital will stimulate the working class to buy more and more of expensive goods, houses and technology, pushing them to take more and more expensive credits, until their debt becomes unbearable. The unpaid debt will lead to bankruptcy of banks, which will have to be nationalized, and the State will have to take the road which will eventually lead to communism."

[*Karl Marx*, *1867*, */Das Kapital/*, his doctrine of the theory of surplus value]

Sounds very familiar doesn't it?

Hat tip Theo Spark
Edit:
I have been informed that the above quote is a hoax, but I have gleaned this from wikipedia

In capitalism, improvements in technology and rising levels of productivity increase the amount of material wealth (or use values) in society while simultaneously diminishing the economic value of this wealth, thereby lowering the rate of profit—a tendency that leads to the peculiar situation, characteristic of crises in capitalism, of “poverty in the midst of plenty,” or more precisely, crises of overproduction in the midst of underconsumption.

The GMC Stalking

Twenty two hours and forty three minutes they were logged on to my blog

For what purpose? Not patient safety that's for damn sure.

Anyone who spends that amount of time logged on to one blog is either reading it from the beginning or stalking me and I would prefer the second option.

It seems they may have even printed it all out. We know from a FOI request that the GMC spends £49000 on stationery per annum

She claims she would have been the scapegoat, Well the woman was the chief executive She should carry the responsibility.

You really do wonder about why she took the job without wanting the responsibility that goes with it.

Chief Executives in my book are worthless. This one rates as bad as Wendy Wallace, who is prepared to lie and cheat and not even follow her own policies.

More on the House of Lords

Baroness Royall, What a name Her wikipedia entry makes a big deal that she is an unelected member of Cabinet.

The entry is:
It is a significant feature of her political career that every office held has been an unelected appointment; she has never actually been elected to any public office.

Yet she has the gall to say that the lords under fire for corruption were entrapped

Alice over at the Bubble has this to say

"
Lord Taylor: "Yes, but these are the sort of fees I get. I am being absolutely honest with you. I am not exaggerating. It's whether I want to do it or not. You've got to whet my appetite, to get me to come on board."
"

Doesn't sound like entrapment to me but then what would the chinless wonder know about that anyway

Chinless Lady Royall, onetime close friend of Lord Kinnock, has somehow made it to Leader of the House. Her eyes were open but there was no obvious sign of intelligent life.

Frankly I wish these unelected members of Cabinet to be thrown out. I didn't vote for them nor did anyone else. Bloody parasitic nomenklatura.

Blog Round up from the last two days

It seems the government is taking us all to task, and drowning us in information and cutting off the air supply in order to suffocate us in the bid to slip the important way of life changing "directives" past our noses so that we can't react to them.

We have Raedwald warning us about the new EU totalitarian state, along with many other blogs namely DK spreading the news

We have the Coroners and Justice Bill with clause 152 being a big thorn in Data Protection

We have today's Pravda (BBC) announcement of taking away passports for not keeping up your child maintenance They state that this has worked in Australia (a neo fascist state and a test bed for the world)

The government says the new plan will be tested in certain areas of the country.
Similar schemes in the US and Australia have been successful in increasing payments.

Other powers open to the CMEC include taking money from a bank account without going through the courts; applying for a curfew, or recovering money from a dead person's estate.
Opponents are worried that civil liberties may be undermined if bureaucrats have the power to take away passports and driving licences.
The Liberal Democrats have also criticised the plans.

and they are going to pursue you beyond the grave.

The NHS wont serve you meat in hospital anymore ( best source of protein) because they are more concerned about global warming as Old Holborn writes, personally I think its more to do with cost cutting . Cheapskates!

I think that's enough for one post There'll be more later. The fact that there is more is worrying.

Back in the NHSSR

It was my fortune to be at a job interview today for an NHS job a substantive post and it made me remember why I am not enamoured of substantive posts.

I was told in my letter to report to XXXX when I got to the place of interview (I am anonymizing this as I don't want the werewolves to know where I have been until I deign to tell them as they seem insistent upon blog monitoring.)

I met XXXX a most corpulent example of a person. I had to bring all my documents, and I had neglected to bring a couple, for the trust involved to photocopy.

I sat in the office waiting for my interview, the bright light reminding me that this was what I had left behind.

I got asked standard questions, but I think I was one of only two candidates for the post who were short-listed, there may have been another one but he/she wasn't waiting around when I left so I am puzzled.

I mean don't get me wrong but the only reason I have to apply for NHS substantive jobs is because the Werewolves have decided that this is my punishment. Frankly I would have been better off suspended at this rate with the quality and availability of substantive jobs being so low, even though I would get a decent rate of pay. Its the lack of ability to get out fast if there's heat or trouble that really irks me

I mean there is a nice outpatient type job available but its consultant is a psychopath incarnate so I'm not going to apply for that job. I have enough problems without taking on another sociopathic control freak of a consultant. Its possibly why that post is vacant and a few others in that trust.

I have already decided that the post I interviewed for today is my second choice I have another interview for another post at XXXX to go to and no I'm not going to put when it is. The werewolves will have to figure that one out for themselves.

I came back and read the blogs, It seems there's a lot of EU crap law hitting fans out there aswell as more skullduggery from unelected members of the cabinet who feel that certain people were entrapped. How would she know? One smells a rat.

Baroness Amos GMC study and corruption

Last night because I had not much to do and because I was feeling in a research type of mood I decided to see how many foreign names were being scuttled by the GMC in their Interim Orders, I even came across when Adam Osbourne was suspended 8th September. I was going through the archives of the GMC.

To my horror virtually every name mentioned apart from a few GPs and a few white names the rest were almost all Subcontinental, or European. There were a few cases in which it was quite clear that female contact was a problem and this was mainly a white issue, however there were loads of subcontinental names where the GMC are intent on seeing where they work and keeping a close eye. Most of these are not international graduates the vast majority graduated here in Britain. BBC article here and another one here

The GMC say that they are on top of this as their text from GMC today sept -oct 2008 below shows but the person who they are involved with is a labour life peer who is mired in corruption. One does wonder how far the rot travels and it seems it is right up there at the top

As part of this initiative, and building on the success of a roundtable meeting last year, the GMC has established an independently chaired forum. The Equality and Diversity Research Forum met for the first time on 10 September 2008 and was chaired by Baroness Amos.

The Forum heard from researchers who are leading work into a wide range of topics including:

* why international medical graduates are over-represented throughout all stages of the GMC’s fitness to practise procedures
* the experiences of UK, EU and non- EU medical graduates making the transition to the UK workplace
* how non-UK qualified doctors and doctors from a variety of cultural backgrounds understand the ethics of medical practice in the UK
* comparing systems of medical regulation between the UK and other countries.

Baroness Amos said: ‘I’m delighted to chair this Forum, and support the GMC’s efforts to better understand the experiences and circumstances of doctors who’ve qualified from outside the UK or are from a minority ethnic background.

I hope that working with other organisations in this way will lay the foundations on which to build our understanding of how equality and diversity issues impact on healthcare regulation.’

The Forum is planning to meet again in six months. Keep a look out for further news in future editions of GMCtoday.

The next bit of text is lifted straight from another website and is quoted below

Third World style nepotism and corruption has reached into the heart of Britain’s ruling elite. The latest shocking example has come with the news that Guyana-born Baroness Valerie Ann Amos has landed a job with a Nigerian company which is funded by the government department she used to head up.

Baroness Amos was created a “life peer” in August 1997, and as such already draws a permanent salary as part of the unelected House of Lords. She served in the cabinet as International Development Secretary.

She has now taken up a lucrative job with Travant Capital Partners which was given a £15 million handout — from her own department.

Travant Capital Partners is a Nigerian private equity firm to plough British taxpayers’ money into Africa and Asia under the guise of “foreign aid.”

She lists the directorship as ‘remunerated’ in the Register of Lords Interests, but there is no indication of how much she is paid.

Writing in his book The Catholic Orangemen of Togo, Britain’s former Ambassador to Uzbekistan, Craig Murray, claims to have been told by a director of Travant that the company “had access to DFID funds because Baroness Amos was a Director.”

It is a significant feature of Baroness Amos' political career that every office held has been an unelected appointment; she has never actually been elected to any public office. ( from Wikipedia)

Frankly it seems like this lady like the other baroness in the labour party has no grip on the reality of her actions and is frankly not someone I would want anywhere near me.

Burying Database Law in another Bill Fencepost!

+ A CONCEALED ASSAULT ON PRIVACY +

NO2ID has been warning since 2006/7 about the stated intentions of
government "to overcome current barriers to information sharing within
the public sector" [1]. Now the Ministry of Justice has launched an
extraordinary coup. It is about to convert the Data Protection Act into
its exact opposite, a means for any government department to obtain and
use any information however it likes.

Hidden in the new Coroners and Justice Bill [2] is one clause (cl.152)
amending the Data Protection Act. It would allow ministers to make
'Information Sharing Orders', that can alter any Act of Parliament and
cancel all rules of confidentiality in order to use information obtained
for one purpose to be used for another.

This single clause is as grave a threat to privacy as the entire ID
Scheme. Combine it with the index to your life formed by the planned
National Identity Register [3] and everything recorded about you
anywhere could be accessible to any official body.

The Database State is now a direct threat not a theory.

Quite apart from the powers in the Identity Cards Act, if Information
Sharing Orders come to pass, they could (for example) immediately be
used to suck up material such as tax records or electoral registers to
build an early version of the National Identity Register. But the powers
apply to any information, not just official information. They would
permit data trafficking between government agencies and private
companies - your medical records are firmly in their sights - and even
with foreign governments.

ACT NOW!

We urge you to write to your MP straight away via
http://www.WriteToThem.com - don't wait. The Bill is being rushed
through Parliament, even as we write. It contains a number of
controversial provisions, but to the casual reader appears mainly to be
about reforming inquests and sentencing.

As it progresses, NO2ID will be publishing more information but it is
crucial that every MP realises how dangerous the information sharing
clauses in the Coroners and Justice Bill really are. This will only
happen if YOU tell them.

*In your own words*, please ask your MP to read Part 8 (clauses 151 -
154) of the Coroners and Justice Bill, and to oppose the massive
enabling powers in the "Information sharing" clause. The Bill is due its
Second Reading in the Commons on 26th January 2009.

Request them to demand the clause be given proper Parliamentary
scrutiny. This is something that will affect every single one of their
constituents, unlike the rest of the Bill. There is a grave danger that
the government will set a timetable that will cut off debate before
these proposals - which are at the end of the Bill - are discussed.

With support for the ID scheme crumbling, even in the Home Office's own
skewed polls - the last of which showed a 5% drop [4] - trust in the
government's handling of our personal information is at an all-time low.

A YouGov poll in the Sunday Times on 18th January shows that the public
opposes these new powers by a factor of 3 to 1 *against*. 65% of people
asked said they give government "too much power", only 19% thought not
[5]. The government can't pretend a popular mandate for what it is
doing. And it is a mechanism designed to by-pass parliament in future.
It is being done only for the convenience of the bureaucrats.

Please write NOW - http://www.WriteToThem.com - it won't take long, and
we are going to ask you again. But if you don't start now, our battle is
going to be much harder.

Please ALSO pass on or forward this part of the newsletter to friends,
family and colleagues who might share your concerns. The more people it
reaches, the more we hope will act.

We really can't afford not to win.

The Inauguration speech Fisked.

OBAMA: My fellow citizens:

I stand here today humbled by the task before us, grateful for the trust you have bestowed, mindful of the sacrifices borne by our ancestors. I thank President Bush for his service to our nation, as well as the generosity and cooperation he has shown throughout this transition.

This is the usual preamble written by Jon to soften you up for the rest, I hope I can measure up and make sure that I can remain president without the fear of rioting in the street.

Forty-four Americans have now taken the presidential oath. The words have been spoken during rising tides of prosperity and the still waters of peace. Yet, every so often the oath is taken amidst gathering clouds and raging storms. At these moments, America has carried on not simply because of the skill or vision of those in high office, but because we the people have remained faithful to the ideals of our forebears, and true to our founding documents.

So it has been. So it must be with this generation of Americans.

This inauguration takes place, at a time of real change, Mr Bush has bankrupted the country and left me with nothing so Im going to make you work to change things.

That we are in the midst of crisis is now well understood. Our nation is at war, against a far-reaching network of violence and hatred. Our economy is badly weakened, a consequence of greed and irresponsibility on the part of some, but also our collective failure to make hard choices and prepare the nation for a new age. Homes have been lost; jobs shed; businesses shuttered. Our health care is too costly; our schools fail too many; and each day brings further evidence that the ways we use energy strengthen our adversaries and threaten our planet.

I know that we are in a bad way, the war is draining funds as I speak, and the housing and finance bubble brought on by the bankers of this nation, have bankrupted the country to the point of collapse , whilst we face the challenge of peak oil and the certain reality that soon our oil fuelled boom will come to a grinding halt, and that at the moment most Americans have no knowledge of this fact and that services are going to be cut by the time I finish my first term.

These are the indicators of crisis, subject to data and statistics. Less measurable but no less profound is a sapping of confidence across our land — a nagging fear that America's decline is inevitable, and that the next generation must lower its sights.

You know this to be true, Search your feelings and you know this to be true, Im not going to lie about this or I might get lynched.

Today I say to you that the challenges we face are real. They are serious and they are many. They will not be met easily or in a short span of time. But know this, America — they will be met.

We will try and secure a ready source of oil and will go to war to secure them, against Iran and even by warring against those who would restrict the supply of oil, This is why we have the fifth fleet stationed in Bahrain.

On this day, we gather because we have chosen hope over fear, unity of purpose over conflict and discord.
On this day, we come to proclaim an end to the petty grievances and false promises, the recriminations and worn out dogmas, that for far too long have strangled our politics.

You wish, Im using this mantra to pull the wool over your eyes because it sounds fabulous and to a certain extent it is fable

We remain a young nation, but in the words of Scripture, the time has come to set aside childish things. The time has come to reaffirm our enduring spirit; to choose our better history; to carry forward that precious gift, that noble idea, passed on from generation to generation: the God-given promise that all are equal, all are free and all deserve a chance to pursue their full measure of happiness.

Some however are more equal than others and more freer than the rest and we will make sure that those people benefit

In reaffirming the greatness of our nation, we understand that greatness is never a given. It must be earned. Our journey has never been one of shortcuts or settling for less. It has not been the path for the faint-hearted — for those who prefer leisure over work, or seek only the pleasures of riches and fame. Rather, it has been the risk-takers, the doers, the makers of things — some celebrated but more often men and women obscure in their labor, who have carried us up the long, rugged path towards prosperity and freedom.

Earned by the power of your collective sweat and tears.

For us, they packed up their few worldly possessions and traveled across oceans in search of a new life.
For us, they toiled in sweatshops and settled the West; endured the lash of the whip and plowed the hard earth.
For us, they fought and died, in places like Concord and Gettysburg; Normandy and Khe Sahn.

Time and again these men and women struggled and sacrificed and worked till their hands were raw so that we might live a better life. They saw America as bigger than the sum of our individual ambitions; greater than all the differences of birth or wealth or faction.

And then they gave it away to the Federal reserve to bankrupt us from 1913 onwards.
This is the journey we continue today. We remain the most prosperous, powerful nation on Earth. Our workers are no less productive than when this crisis began. Our minds are no less inventive, our goods and services no less needed than they were last week or last month or last year. Our capacity remains undiminished. But our time of standing pat, of protecting narrow interests and putting off unpleasant decisions — that time has surely passed. Starting today, we must pick ourselves up, dust ourselves off, and begin again the work of remaking America.

All of our wealth is an illusion, we are in hock to the federal reserve and those people are ready to foreclose on their loan

For everywhere we look, there is work to be done. The state of the economy calls for action, bold and swift, and we will act — not only to create new jobs, but to lay a new foundation for growth. We will build the roads and bridges, the electric grids and digital lines that feed our commerce and bind us together. We will restore science to its rightful place, and wield technology's wonders to raise health care's quality and lower its cost. We will harness the sun and the winds and the soil to fuel our cars and run our factories. And we will transform our schools and colleges and universities to meet the demands of a new age. All this we can do. All this we will do.

Im taking a leaf out of Roosevelts book and put all the unemployed to work building our infrastructure as he did in the Nineteen thirties, Peak oil has come and we are going to have to be a bit more ingenious in how we transport ourselves and how we find the energy to produce electricity.

Now, there are some who question the scale of our ambitions — who suggest that our system cannot tolerate too many big plans. Their memories are short. For they have forgotten what this country has already done; what free men and women can achieve when imagination is joined to common purpose, and necessity to courage.
Common purpose rears its ugly head, we will force you all to make this new America

What the cynics fail to understand is that the ground has shifted beneath them — that the stale political arguments that have consumed us for so long no longer apply. The question we ask today is not whether our government is too big or too small, but whether it works — whether it helps families find jobs at a decent wage, care they can afford, a retirement that is dignified. Where the answer is yes, we intend to move forward. Where the answer is no, programs will end. Those of us who manage the public's dollars will be held to account — to spend wisely, reform bad habits, and do our business in the light of day — because only then can we restore the vital trust between a people and their government.

The trust is no longer there and this is because we have been careless. We will not be so careless in the future and will make sure you trust us or we will make sure you do not exist

Nor is the question before us whether the market is a force for good or ill. Its power to generate wealth and expand freedom is unmatched, but this crisis has reminded us that without a watchful eye, the market can spin out of control — and that a nation cannot prosper long when it favors only the prosperous. The success of our economy has always depended not just on the size of our gross domestic product, but on the reach of our prosperity; on our ability to extend opportunity to every willing heart — not out of charity, but because it is the surest route to our common good.

Times are going to be hard, the markets have collapsed and there is going to be a repeat of the 1930s and the Depression only this time it will be worse.
As for our common defense, we reject as false the choice between our safety and our ideals. Our founding fathers ... our found fathers, faced with perils we can scarcely imagine, drafted a charter to assure the rule of law and the rights of man, a charter expanded by the blood of generations. Those ideals still light the world, and we will not give them up for expedience's sake. And so to all the other peoples and governments who are watching today, from the grandest capitals to the small village where my father was born: know that America is a friend of each nation and every man, woman, and child who seeks a future of peace and dignity, and that we are ready to lead once more.

Friend of each nation that will help us secure oil, and that we lay claim to the lions share of that oil.

Recall that earlier generations faced down fascism and communism not just with missiles and tanks, but with sturdy alliances and enduring convictions. They understood that our power alone cannot protect us, nor does it entitle us to do as we please. Instead, they knew that our power grows through its prudent use; our security emanates from the justness of our cause, the force of our example, the tempering qualities of humility and restraint.

Collectivism is here to stay, and we will make sure that the New World Order is brought in so insidiously that you wont even realise that you have been enslaved.
We are the keepers of this legacy. Guided by these principles once more, we can meet those new threats that demand even greater effort — even greater cooperation and understanding between nations. We will begin to responsibly leave Iraq to its people, and forge a hard-earned peace in Afghanistan. With old friends and former foes, we will work tirelessly to lessen the nuclear threat, and roll back the specter of a warming planet. We will not apologize for our way of life, nor will we waver in its defense, and for those who seek to advance their aims by inducing terror and slaughtering innocents, we say to you now that our spirit is stronger and cannot be broken; you cannot outlast us, and we will defeat you.

We will not apologise for our wasteful usage of oil, nor will we waver in our defense of making sure that we keep oil flowing to our country.

For we know that our patchwork heritage is a strength, not a weakness. We are a nation of Christians and Muslims, Jews and Hindus — and non-believers. We are shaped by every language and culture, drawn from every end of this Earth; and because we have tasted the bitter swill of civil war and segregation, and emerged from that dark chapter stronger and more united, we cannot help but believe that the old hatreds shall someday pass; that the lines of tribe shall soon dissolve; that as the world grows smaller, our common humanity shall reveal itself; and that America must play its role in ushering in a new era of peace.

We are on the verge of the New World Order and all governments will be swept away and replaced by one world government.

To the Muslim world, we seek a new way forward, based on mutual interest and mutual respect. To those leaders around the globe who seek to sow conflict, or blame their society's ills on the West — know that your people will judge you on what you can build, not what you destroy. To those who cling to power through corruption and deceit and the silencing of dissent, know that you are on the wrong side of history; but that we will extend a hand if you are willing to unclench your fist.

To the people of poor nations, we pledge to work alongside you to make your farms flourish and let clean waters flow; to nourish starved bodies and feed hungry minds. And to those nations like ours that enjoy relative plenty, we say we can no longer afford indifference to the suffering outside our borders; nor can we consume the world's resources without regard to effect. For the world has changed, and we must change with it.

There is a lot of change going to happen but you may not like it
As we consider the road that unfolds before us, we remember with humble gratitude those brave Americans who, at this very hour, patrol far-off deserts and distant mountains. They have something to tell us, just as the fallen heroes who lie in Arlington whisper through the ages. We honor them not only because they are guardians of our liberty, but because they embody the spirit of service; a willingness to find meaning in something greater than themselves. And yet, at this moment — a moment that will define a generation — it is precisely this spirit that must inhabit us all.

For as much as government can do and must do, it is ultimately the faith and determination of the American people upon which this nation relies. It is the kindness to take in a stranger when the levees break, the selflessness of workers who would rather cut their hours than see a friend lose their job which sees us through our darkest hours. It is the firefighter's courage to storm a stairway filled with smoke, but also a parent's willingness to nurture a child, that finally decides our fate.

Our challenges may be new. The instruments with which we meet them may be new. But those values upon which our success depends — hard work and honesty, courage and fair play, tolerance and curiosity, loyalty and patriotism — these things are old. These things are true. They have been the quiet force of progress throughout our history. What is demanded then is a return to these truths. What is required of us now is a new era of responsibility — a recognition, on the part of every American, that we have duties to ourselves, our nation, and the world, duties that we do not grudgingly accept but rather seize gladly, firm in the knowledge that there is nothing so satisfying to the spirit, so defining of our character, than giving our all to a difficult task.

This is the price and the promise of citizenship.

This is the source of our confidence — the knowledge that God calls on us to shape an uncertain destiny.

This is the meaning of our liberty and our creed — why men and women and children of every race and every faith can join in celebration across this magnificent Mall, and why a man whose father less than sixty years ago might not have been served at a local restaurant can now stand before you to take a most sacred oath.

So let us mark this day with remembrance, of who we are and how far we have traveled. In the year of America's birth, in the coldest of months, a small band of patriots huddled by dying campfires on the shores of an icy river. The capital was abandoned. The enemy was advancing. The snow was stained with blood. At a moment when the outcome of our revolution was most in doubt, the father of our nation ordered these words be read to the people:

"Let it be told to the future world ... that in the depth of winter, when nothing but hope and virtue could survive...that the city and the country, alarmed at one common danger, came forth to meet (it)."

America, in the face of our common dangers, in this winter of our hardship, let us remember these timeless words. With hope and virtue, let us brave once more the icy currents, and endure what storms may come. Let it be said by our children's children that when we were tested we refused to let this journey end, that we did not turn back nor did we falter; and with eyes fixed on the horizon and God's grace upon us, we carried forth that great gift of freedom and delivered it safely to future generations.

Thank you. God bless you. And God bless the United States of America.

Ok I accept that I am a full blooded cynic, but I am not going to expect wonders, We are at an interesting time in history and as Anti War.com writes America is already bankrupted.

One does wonder what is going to happen in the next four years.

Last British television factory closes

Full story here

We invented the television, and now we dont manufacture them, Another nail in the coffin of manufacturing industry, and as one particularly prescient man comments there if there is a famine we will starve because we import food and are no longer self sufficient, as we dont support our farmers and soon we wont be able to grow carrots in Britain due to some rather stupid EU legislation around pesticides.

Eats, shoots and leaves Or Infamous Quotes (1)

Green shoots of recovery Baroness Vadera, Honestly woman were you thinking when you said that?

George Osborne is correct that the Labour party are not in 2009 for them it is already 2012 and they are toasting their success

The Baron of Darkness has also pulled another trick out of the dark side of the force and managed to buy a home worth 17 times his income

However one does wonder where the money actually came from, Its so not fair, But then again in a few months once the inflation rate goes up and up 2.5 million wont buy you a newspaper never mind a house.

A wonderful prescient song

Ein kleiner Mann in einer Flasche

Findus

Oh dear Findus is the latest casualty of the credit crunch.Things were already bad as the factory making the crispy pancakes had burnt down.

A fire of unknown origin ( Well it wasnt spontaneous combustion was it?)

The Findus plant has been shut since Tuesday, when a fire of unknown origin broke out in a Crispy Pancake unit and a large section of the factory was destroyed.

So no more fishfingers and no more crispy pancakes, they seem to have gone to the great freezer in the sky

Burning our Money part deux

Late last month I reported how Blackpool and Lancashire care trust , the Northern sector with the prissy narcissistic Mr Hiss in a suit Dr Leon Le Roux, had spent a small fortune on their EIS workers to go to Australia for a conference.

It now appears that they have two posts in Blackpool which they cannot fill

These posts are fresh hot off the press this morning

On going
Psychiatry - Old Age- Section 12
STAFF GRADE
GREY GABLES BLACKPOOL

On going
Psychiatry - EIS SPOKE TEAM 10PA no o/call
Section 12
STAFF GRADE
FARADAY LANE BLACKPOOL

The cost to the trust of these two posts is in the order of £200000 pounds per annum

Locum agency fees and the actual salary of the locum

You can employ two consultants for that though with Le Roux around who would want to work there

Im not surprised that the old age job at the Grey Gables is up again either, that was a shitty job, which means you are on two sites and tired out.

What do the Weimar Republic, Zimbabwe and now Great Britain have in common?

For anyone struggling with the correct answer, may I point you to Guido's excellent post and comments, from today

Alistair Darling( luvvie) may have said that we are not going to print more money but that is a lie, he means hes going to turn a blind eye if more is printed.

They are changing a law that has been around for over 164 years

I shall quote a bit

The Government is set to throw out the 165-year old law that obliges the Bank to publish a weekly account of its balance sheet – a move that will allow it theoretically to embark covertly on so-called quantitative easing. The Banking Bill, which is currently passing through Parliament, abolishes a key section of the law laid down by Robert Peel's Government in 1844 which originally granted the Bank the sole right to print UK money.

... Debating the issue in the House of Lords recently, Lord James of Blackheath, a Conservative peer, said: "Remove [this] control and there is nothing to stop an unreported and unmonitored flooding of the money market by the undisciplined use of the printing presses. If we went down that path we would be following a road which starts in Weimar, goes on through Harare and must not end in Westminster and London. That is the great fear that the abolition of that section will bring about – but the Bill abolishes it."

Robert Peel the same man who established the police force and why a colloquial term for the police is the Peelers

Yet the government lies to you hand over fist ( tip you can tell when Gordon does it He cackles with laughter)

Another person who comments on Guidos post says that he predicts war

I support that prediction The war that 1984 ( the book) has is going to become real.

Im going to try and persuade my elderly parents to invest in gold bullion rather than have paper money in their savings accounts.

It might mean that they enjoy whats left of their retirement rather than fall prey to the five billion pound note issued on December 21 2012.....
Repent
The end of the world is nigh ....

I mean in Eschatological terms the death of Wedgwood as an industry and it going into administration when it was one of the first companies of the Industrial revolution , is a portent of doom

Wars are fought over natural resources

It seems that there is a big gas field off the coast of Gaza Thanks to the Times of India and a blogger profile Friend of Carlotta. Israel is interested in this gas. Nuff said perhaps.

The Iraq war was over oil ( why do you think there is a great big massive US embassy in Baghdad?)

Before I get flamed and roughed up this information is out there. Yes there have been rocket attacks from Gaza to the Negev where there are people who have been killed and that is no less terrible than the people who have been killed in Gaza.

Wars always hurt innocents, they are the losers. There are costs to war ,both in the amount of resources wasted , people killed and maimed for life, the post traumatics stress disorders, and the general awfulness of them all.

The EU is going after North Sea Gas from the Lisbon treaty that was a bloodless war, Gordon Brown lay down and played dead for the EU and says this isnt the constitution for a referendum. The one eyed cunt has committed treason, and knows it but is immune as he is Prime Minister.

I see my country the one I was born in becoming a nightmare and I am upset. Even more now than I did two years ago.

One of my Favourite pieces of Music plus some of the bits of this blog you might not have read

Music Box Dancer by Frank Mills, I chose this version because of the sound quality

I first heard it in Canada when I went on elective ( Dermatology) in Vancouver in 1994

I blog about my health and my diet and my troubles with bullying on my other blog which is Musings of the Medic Its on my bloglist

Ive heard that the GMC are sniffing around the blogs, that some doctors write well I have a DPA request going in and if you are sniffing and you do have this next to my name well I shall have you if you dont reveal it. Breaking the DPA is a criminal offence and just because you are the GMC doesn't make you immune to the law such as it is.

I was searching through Google today, as you do and found some comments I left last year and the year before that

It may interest some people that I am mentioned in Out of The Tunnel by Rachel North pages 184-185 if anyone seriously wants to look

The best way to understand why I have spent the last two years blogging on and off is to read the first post of my blog. It sort of explains things

It also tells you that I am opposed to terrorism, in all its guises.

I will post up controversial material here though, I make no excuse for that

I also post up interesting things like this post about Baileys Irish Cream

It seems things have gone from bad to worse regarding Gordon Brown

This was going to be a short post but it seems to have taken on a life of its own

Enjoy the music

Famous Quotes (7)

If you have ten thousand regulations you destroy all respect for the law.
Winston Churchill

Hardly surprising that all the new laws that Labour have passed yet not one person respects Labour for doing it

Famous Quotes (6)

The arrogance of officialdom should be tempered and controlled, and assistance to foreign hands should be curtailed, lest Rome fall.

Marcus Tullius Cicero writing in 55 BC

Also as he has been translated into modern times

The budget should be balanced, the Treasury should be refilled, public debt should be reduced, the arrogance of officialdom should be tempered and controlled, and the assistance to foreign lands should be curtailed lest Rome become bankrupt. People must again learn to work, instead of living on public assistance.

Cannot people realize how large an income is thrift?

Interest Rate cut to 1.5% Lowest ever since 1694

She looks really happy doesnt she...... Not

The Bank of England in its own admission has lowered interest rates to 1.5 % the lowest since the Bank was formed by wealthy landowners back in 1694.

The Bank of England was once a private institution ( probably still is; Who actually knows who owns this bank?) unless it also was nationalised in 1947 along with all the other companies in that year.

How they think lower interest rates will boost the economy in the face of all that is going on and billionaires killing themselves, in Germany, ( just an aside) is beyond me

Plus the fact that Brown wants to print more money as I posted yesterday. We are going to be in a situation where we are going to be in a Zimbabwe, or a Germany between the wars very soon

What does the Bank think its doing? Or is this a government sponsored effort to importune all our money and kill off sterling and make way for paperless currency so that we can all be chipped and IDed and made in to serfs for the state and that we proletarians will become indentured servants to the Patrician people who have power at their disposal?

I read about this on conspiracy websites, almost 6 years ago and thought oh dear will it come to pass

Unfortunately they were telling the truth, or a verisimilitude of it

The fuckwits that run this country supposedly Brown and the Labour party are puppets of the bankers . Wankers all of them, Cunts !

ZanuLabour Brown wanting to print more money

George Osborne has described reports that the government is considering the option of printing money to stimulate the economy as proof that the Prime Minister “has led Britain to the brink of bankruptcy.”

The Shadow Chancellor of the Exchequer said floating the idea was “irresponsible in the extreme” and could shake the confidence of international markets.

George said, “Printing money is the last resort of desperate governments when all other policies have failed.”

And he added, “The very fact that the Treasury is speculating about printing money shows that Gordon Brown has led Britain to the brink of bankruptcy.”

Just what does Gordon think this country is ? Zimbabwe?

This confirms what I thought, Inflation is high and the government is using the old Labour crap of printing money

This truly is a winter of discontent

A History lesson perhaps?

Found in a comment box and worthy of being spread ( no its nothing like butter)

I did not write this but I think it deserves a wider audience

For nearly 2,000 years Palestine has been almost 100 per cent Arab. The Romans never exiled any nation from anywhere on the eastern seaboard of the Mediterranean. Schlomo Sand, an Israeli historian argues that the diaspora was the consequence, NOT of the expulsion of the Hebrews from Palestine, but of proselytising across north Africa, southern Europe and the Middle East. Two thousand years of wandering brought the Jews to Yemen [a vigorous Jewish kingdom emerged during the 5th century in Himyar, whose descendants preserved their faith through the Islamic conquest and down to the present day], Morocco, Spain, Germany, Poland and deep into Russia [the most significant massconversion occurred in the 8th century, in the massive Khazar kingdom between the Black and Caspian seas].

Some of the population of Judea that continued to live on their lands converted to Christianity in the 4th century, while the majority embraced Islam during the 7th century Arab conquest.

A group of people referring to themselves as "Jews" are insisting that Palestine belongs to them because their ancestors lived there are 2000 years ago. They created the Zionist movement to help restore their homeland.

Most of these Zionists are not descendants of the original Jews. Rather, most Zionists are "Ashkenazi Jews"; a race of people from Asia. The white Ashkenazi Zionists are incorrect when they claim that their ancestors came from Palestine.

The real, original Jews were physically and genetically similar to the Arabs, specifically, dark skin, dark eyes, and dark hair. The Christians from the northern European nations usually depict Jesus with northern European features, but they should depict Jesus more correctly by giving him dark skin and Semitic features. The Hebrew and Arabic languages have a lot of similarities, also.

The real homeland for the white, Ashkenazi Jews is near the Caspian and Black Seas, not Palestine. Their ancestors picked up the Jewish religion many centuries ago. But they are not the descendants of the Jews that lived in Palestine. So, do “Ashkenazi” Jews have a right to Palestine? Imagine if Africans made the mistake of assuming Alaska was their homeland.

Furthermore, because the Zionists are not real Jews, criticizing their attempt to create Israel is not criticizing Jews! In fact, the Ashkenazi Jews outnumber the real Jews, and are discriminating against the real Jews in Israel. For example, have you heard about their ringworm treatment for Sephardi children?

Pro-Israel apologists claim the issue of whether the Zionist Jews are related to the original Jews is irrelevant, and cannot affect Israel’s right to exist. The truth is that Israel does not have a right to exist. No state does as states don’t have rights. Israel CAN justify its existence but only by standing on its own two feet and providing security to its citizens independent of U.S. aid (or any other aid for that matter).

Why not allow the Aztecs have a special homeland in Palestine? When the Romans caused Celts to migrate into the British Isles, they took land away from whoever was living there already. Why not let those people have a homeland in Palestine?

All throughout history we find groups of people fighting with their neighbors, and migrating to different areas. If the Jews had fought with the Arabs for Palestine a thousand years ago, the Arabs may have moved eastward after a few fights, and the Jews may have created Israel without much suffering.

However, nobody today is nomadic. You cannot chase a person off his land by throwing rocks at him or by shooting at him with arrows. Furthermore, the human population is dense; there is no vacant land anywhere.

Today all groups of people refuse to move. The end result is that fights over territory become devastating for any nation foolish enough to get involved in such fights.

It is no longer practical for people to fight over territory. We are no longer living like animals, and we must stop fighting over territory like animals.

The Jews are trying to create Israel in an era when creating nations is impractical. The entire world is suffering tremendously, and we should give it up as a hopeless fantasy.

Israeli racism manifests itself in a bunch of laws that are necessary to safeguard Jewish privilege, including the Law of Return (1950), the Law of Absentee Property (1950), the Law of the State’s Property (1951), the Law of Citizenship (1952), the Status Law (1952), the Israel Lands Administration Law (1960), the Construction and Building Law (1965), and the 2002 temporary law banning marriage between Israelis and Palestinians of the occupied territories. The maintenance of all the racist laws guarantees the Jewish character of the state.

Zionism and Israel are very careful not to generalise the principles that justify Israel’s need to be racist but are rather vehement in upholding it as an exceptional principle.

For decades, pro-Israel Zionists and pro-Israel neoconservatives have not only manipulated the puppet strings of Congress and the White House in favor of open borders and multiculturalisism, but have also supported and still support immigration of Muslims into the West.

In the age of Zionism, we are told, anti-Semitism has metamorphosed into something that is more insidious. Today, Israel and its Western defenders insist, genocidal anti-Semitism consists mainly of any attempt to take away and to refuse to uphold the absolute right of Israel to be a racist Jewish state.

THE TALE OF
GINGER AND PICKLES

Once upon a time there was a village shop. The name over the window was "Ginger and Pickles."

It was a little small shop just the right size for Dolls—Lucinda and Jane Doll-cook always bought their groceries at Ginger and Pickles.

The counter inside was a convenient height for rabbits. Ginger and Pickles sold red spotty pocket-handkerchiefs at a penny three farthings.

They also sold sugar, and snuff and galoshes.

In fact, although it was such a small shop it sold nearly everything—except a few things that you want in a hurry—like bootlaces, hair-pins and mutton chops.

Ginger and Pickles were the people who kept the shop. Ginger was a yellow tom-cat, and Pickles was a terrier.

The rabbits were always a little bit afraid of Pickles.

The shop was also patronized by mice—only the mice were rather afraid of Ginger.

Ginger usually requested Pickles to serve them, because he said it made his mouth water.

"I cannot bear," said he, "to see them going out at the door carrying their little parcels."

"I have the same feeling about rats," replied Pickles, "but it would never do to eat our own customers; they would leave us and go to Tabitha Twitchit's."

"On the contrary, they would go nowhere," replied Ginger gloomily.

(Tabitha Twitchit kept the only other shop in the village. She did not give credit.)

Ginger and Pickles gave unlimited credit.

Now the meaning of "credit" is this—when a customer buys a bar of soap, instead of the customer pulling out a purse and paying for it—she says she will pay another time.

And Pickles makes a low bow and says, "With pleasure, madam," and it is written down in a book.

The customers come again and again, and buy quantities, in spite of being afraid of Ginger and Pickles.

But there is no money in what is called the "till."

The customers came in crowds every day and bought quantities, especially the toffee customers. But there was always no money; they never paid for as much as a pennyworth of peppermints.

But the sales were enormous, ten times as large as Tabitha Twitchit's.

As there was always no money, Ginger and Pickles were obliged to eat their own goods.

Pickles ate biscuits and Ginger ate a dried haddock.

They ate them by candle-light after the shop was closed.

When it came to Jan. 1st there was still no money, and Pickles was unable to buy a dog licence.

"It is very unpleasant, I am afraid of the police," said Pickles.

"It is your own fault for being a terrier; I do not require a licence, and neither does Kep, the Collie dog."

"It is very uncomfortable, I am afraid I shall be summoned. I have tried in vain to get a licence upon credit at the Post Office;" said Pickles. "The place is full of policemen. I met one as I was coming home."

"Let us send in the bill again to Samuel Whiskers, Ginger, he owes 22/9 for bacon."

"I do not believe that he intends to pay at all," replied Ginger.

"And I feel sure that Anna Maria pockets things—Where are all the cream crackers?"

"You have eaten them yourself," replied Ginger.

Ginger and Pickles retired into the back parlour.

They did accounts. They added up sums and sums, and sums.

"Samuel Whiskers has run up a bill as long as his tail; he has had an ounce and three-quarters of snuff since October."

"What is seven pounds of butter at 1/3, and a stick of sealing wax and four matches?"

"Send in all the bills again to everybody 'with compts,'" replied Ginger.

After a time they heard a noise in the shop, as if something had been pushed in at the door. They came out of the back parlour. There was an envelope lying on the counter, and a policeman writing in a note-book!

Pickles nearly had a fit, he barked and he barked and made little rushes.

"Bite him, Pickles! bite him!" spluttered Ginger behind a sugar-barrel, "he's only a German doll!"

The policeman went on writing in his notebook; twice he put his pencil in his mouth, and once he dipped it in the treacle.

Pickles barked till he was hoarse. But still the policeman took no notice. He had bead eyes, and his helmet was sewed on with stitches.

At length on his last little rush—Pickles found that the shop was empty. The policeman had disappeared.

But the envelope remained.

"Do you think that he has gone to fetch a real live policeman? I am afraid it is a summons," said Pickles.

"No," replied Ginger, who had opened the envelope, "it is the rates and taxes, £3 19 11-3/4."

"This is the last straw," said Pickles, "let us close the shop."

They put up the shutters, and left. But they have not removed from the neighbourhood. In fact some people wish they had gone further.

Ginger is living in the warren. I do not know what occupation he pursues; he looks stout and comfortable.

Pickles is at present a gamekeeper.

The closing of the shop caused great inconvenience. Tabitha Twitchit immediately raised the price of everything a half-penny; and she continued to refuse to give credit.

Of course there are the tradesmen's carts—the butcher, the fish-man and Timothy Baker.

But a person cannot live on "seed wigs" and sponge-cake and butter-buns—not even when the sponge-cake is as good as Timothy's!

After a time Mr. John Dormouse and his daughter began to sell peppermints and candles.

But they did not keep "self-fitting sixes"; and it takes five mice to carry one seven inch candle.

Besides—the candles which they sell behave very strangely in warm weather.

And Miss Dormouse refused to take back the ends when they were brought back to her with complaints.

And when Mr. John Dormouse was complained to, he stayed in bed, and would say nothing but "very snug;" which is not the way to carry on a retail business.

So everybody was pleased when Sally Henny Penny sent out a printed poster to say that she was going to re-open the shop—Henny's Opening Sale! Grand co-operative Jumble! Penny's penny prices! Come buy, come try, come buy!"

The poster really was most 'ticing.

There was a rush upon the opening day. The shop was crammed with customers, and there were crowds of mice upon the biscuit canisters.

Sally Henny Penny gets rather flustered when she tries to count out change, and she insists on being paid cash; but she is quite harmless.

And she has laid in a remarkable assortment of bargains.

There is something to please everybody.

Creating the works from public domain print editions means that no
one owns a United States copyright in these works, so the Foundation
(and you!) can copy and distribute it in the United States without
permission and without paying copyright royalties. Special rules,
set forth in the General Terms of Use part of this license, apply to
copying and distributing Project Gutenberg-tm electronic works to
protect the PROJECT GUTENBERG-tm concept and trademark. Project
Gutenberg is a registered trademark, and may not be used if you
charge for the eBooks, unless you receive specific permission. If you
do not charge anything for copies of this eBook, complying with the
rules is very easy. You may use this eBook for nearly any purpose
such as creation of derivative works, reports, performances and
research. They may be modified and printed and given away--you may do
practically ANYTHING with public domain eBooks. Redistribution is
subject to the trademark license, especially commercial
redistribution.

*** START: FULL LICENSE ***

THE FULL PROJECT GUTENBERG LICENSE
PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE YOU DISTRIBUTE OR USE THIS WORK

To protect the Project Gutenberg-tm mission of promoting the free
distribution of electronic works, by using or distributing this work
(or any other work associated in any way with the phrase "Project
Gutenberg"), you agree to comply with all the terms of the Full Project
Gutenberg-tm License (available with this file or online at
http://gutenberg.net/license).

Section 1. General Terms of Use and Redistributing Project Gutenberg-tm
electronic works

1.A. By reading or using any part of this Project Gutenberg-tm
electronic work, you indicate that you have read, understand, agree to
and accept all the terms of this license and intellectual property
(trademark/copyright) agreement. If you do not agree to abide by all
the terms of this agreement, you must cease using and return or destroy
all copies of Project Gutenberg-tm electronic works in your possession.
If you paid a fee for obtaining a copy of or access to a Project
Gutenberg-tm electronic work and you do not agree to be bound by the
terms of this agreement, you may obtain a refund from the person or
entity to whom you paid the fee as set forth in paragraph 1.E.8.

1.B. "Project Gutenberg" is a registered trademark. It may only be
used on or associated in any way with an electronic work by people who
agree to be bound by the terms of this agreement. There are a few
things that you can do with most Project Gutenberg-tm electronic works
even without complying with the full terms of this agreement. See
paragraph 1.C below. There are a lot of things you can do with Project
Gutenberg-tm electronic works if you follow the terms of this agreement
and help preserve free future access to Project Gutenberg-tm electronic
works. See paragraph 1.E below.

1.C. The Project Gutenberg Literary Archive Foundation ("the Foundation"
or PGLAF), owns a compilation copyright in the collection of Project
Gutenberg-tm electronic works. Nearly all the individual works in the
collection are in the public domain in the United States. If an
individual work is in the public domain in the United States and you are
located in the United States, we do not claim a right to prevent you from
copying, distributing, performing, displaying or creating derivative
works based on the work as long as all references to Project Gutenberg
are removed. Of course, we hope that you will support the Project
Gutenberg-tm mission of promoting free access to electronic works by
freely sharing Project Gutenberg-tm works in compliance with the terms of
this agreement for keeping the Project Gutenberg-tm name associated with
the work. You can easily comply with the terms of this agreement by
keeping this work in the same format with its attached full Project
Gutenberg-tm License when you share it without charge with others.

1.D. The copyright laws of the place where you are located also govern
what you can do with this work. Copyright laws in most countries are in
a constant state of change. If you are outside the United States, check
the laws of your country in addition to the terms of this agreement
before downloading, copying, displaying, performing, distributing or
creating derivative works based on this work or any other Project
Gutenberg-tm work. The Foundation makes no representations concerning
the copyright status of any work in any country outside the United
States.

1.E. Unless you have removed all references to Project Gutenberg:

1.E.1. The following sentence, with active links to, or other immediate
access to, the full Project Gutenberg-tm License must appear prominently
whenever any copy of a Project Gutenberg-tm work (any work on which the
phrase "Project Gutenberg" appears, or with which the phrase "Project
Gutenberg" is associated) is accessed, displayed, performed, viewed,
copied or distributed:

This eBook is for the use of anyone anywhere at no cost and with
almost no restrictions whatsoever. You may copy it, give it away or
re-use it under the terms of the Project Gutenberg License included
with this eBook or online at www.gutenberg.net

1.E.2. If an individual Project Gutenberg-tm electronic work is derived
from the public domain (does not contain a notice indicating that it is
posted with permission of the copyright holder), the work can be copied
and distributed to anyone in the United States without paying any fees
or charges. If you are redistributing or providing access to a work
with the phrase "Project Gutenberg" associated with or appearing on the
work, you must comply either with the requirements of paragraphs 1.E.1
through 1.E.7 or obtain permission for the use of the work and the
Project Gutenberg-tm trademark as set forth in paragraphs 1.E.8 or
1.E.9.

1.E.3. If an individual Project Gutenberg-tm electronic work is posted
with the permission of the copyright holder, your use and distribution
must comply with both paragraphs 1.E.1 through 1.E.7 and any additional
terms imposed by the copyright holder. Additional terms will be linked
to the Project Gutenberg-tm License for all works posted with the
permission of the copyright holder found at the beginning of this work.

1.E.4. Do not unlink or detach or remove the full Project Gutenberg-tm
License terms from this work, or any files containing a part of this
work or any other work associated with Project Gutenberg-tm.

1.E.5. Do not copy, display, perform, distribute or redistribute this
electronic work, or any part of this electronic work, without
prominently displaying the sentence set forth in paragraph 1.E.1 with
active links or immediate access to the full terms of the Project
Gutenberg-tm License.

1.E.6. You may convert to and distribute this work in any binary,
compressed, marked up, nonproprietary or proprietary form, including any
word processing or hypertext form. However, if you provide access to or
distribute copies of a Project Gutenberg-tm work in a format other than
"Plain Vanilla ASCII" or other format used in the official version
posted on the official Project Gutenberg-tm web site (www.gutenberg.net),
you must, at no additional cost, fee or expense to the user, provide a
copy, a means of exporting a copy, or a means of obtaining a copy upon
request, of the work in its original "Plain Vanilla ASCII" or other
form. Any alternate format must include the full Project Gutenberg-tm
License as specified in paragraph 1.E.1.

1.E.7. Do not charge a fee for access to, viewing, displaying,
performing, copying or distributing any Project Gutenberg-tm works
unless you comply with paragraph 1.E.8 or 1.E.9.

1.E.8. You may charge a reasonable fee for copies of or providing
access to or distributing Project Gutenberg-tm electronic works provided
that

- You pay a royalty fee of 20% of the gross profits you derive from
the use of Project Gutenberg-tm works calculated using the method
you already use to calculate your applicable taxes. The fee is
owed to the owner of the Project Gutenberg-tm trademark, but he
has agreed to donate royalties under this paragraph to the
Project Gutenberg Literary Archive Foundation. Royalty payments
must be paid within 60 days following each date on which you
prepare (or are legally required to prepare) your periodic tax
returns. Royalty payments should be clearly marked as such and
sent to the Project Gutenberg Literary Archive Foundation at the
address specified in Section 4, "Information about donations to
the Project Gutenberg Literary Archive Foundation."

- You provide a full refund of any money paid by a user who notifies
you in writing (or by e-mail) within 30 days of receipt that s/he
does not agree to the terms of the full Project Gutenberg-tm
License. You must require such a user to return or
destroy all copies of the works possessed in a physical medium
and discontinue all use of and all access to other copies of
Project Gutenberg-tm works.

- You provide, in accordance with paragraph 1.F.3, a full refund of any
money paid for a work or a replacement copy, if a defect in the
electronic work is discovered and reported to you within 90 days
of receipt of the work.

- You comply with all other terms of this agreement for free
distribution of Project Gutenberg-tm works.

1.E.9. If you wish to charge a fee or distribute a Project Gutenberg-tm
electronic work or group of works on different terms than are set
forth in this agreement, you must obtain permission in writing from
both the Project Gutenberg Literary Archive Foundation and Michael
Hart, the owner of the Project Gutenberg-tm trademark. Contact the
Foundation as set forth in Section 3 below.

1.F.

1.F.1. Project Gutenberg volunteers and employees expend considerable
effort to identify, do copyright research on, transcribe and proofread
public domain works in creating the Project Gutenberg-tm
collection. Despite these efforts, Project Gutenberg-tm electronic
works, and the medium on which they may be stored, may contain
"Defects," such as, but not limited to, incomplete, inaccurate or
corrupt data, transcription errors, a copyright or other intellectual
property infringement, a defective or damaged disk or other medium, a
computer virus, or computer codes that damage or cannot be read by
your equipment.

1.F.2. LIMITED WARRANTY, DISCLAIMER OF DAMAGES - Except for the "Right
of Replacement or Refund" described in paragraph 1.F.3, the Project
Gutenberg Literary Archive Foundation, the owner of the Project
Gutenberg-tm trademark, and any other party distributing a Project
Gutenberg-tm electronic work under this agreement, disclaim all
liability to you for damages, costs and expenses, including legal
fees. YOU AGREE THAT YOU HAVE NO REMEDIES FOR NEGLIGENCE, STRICT
LIABILITY, BREACH OF WARRANTY OR BREACH OF CONTRACT EXCEPT THOSE
PROVIDED IN PARAGRAPH F3. YOU AGREE THAT THE FOUNDATION, THE
TRADEMARK OWNER, AND ANY DISTRIBUTOR UNDER THIS AGREEMENT WILL NOT BE
LIABLE TO YOU FOR ACTUAL, DIRECT, INDIRECT, CONSEQUENTIAL, PUNITIVE OR
INCIDENTAL DAMAGES EVEN IF YOU GIVE NOTICE OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH
DAMAGE.

1.F.3. LIMITED RIGHT OF REPLACEMENT OR REFUND - If you discover a
defect in this electronic work within 90 days of receiving it, you can
receive a refund of the money (if any) you paid for it by sending a
written explanation to the person you received the work from. If you
received the work on a physical medium, you must return the medium with
your written explanation. The person or entity that provided you with
the defective work may elect to provide a replacement copy in lieu of a
refund. If you received the work electronically, the person or entity
providing it to you may choose to give you a second opportunity to
receive the work electronically in lieu of a refund. If the second copy
is also defective, you may demand a refund in writing without further
opportunities to fix the problem.

1.F.4. Except for the limited right of replacement or refund set forth
in paragraph 1.F.3, this work is provided to you 'AS-IS' WITH NO OTHER
WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO
WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTIBILITY OR FITNESS FOR ANY PURPOSE.

1.F.5. Some states do not allow disclaimers of certain implied
warranties or the exclusion or limitation of certain types of damages.
If any disclaimer or limitation set forth in this agreement violates the
law of the state applicable to this agreement, the agreement shall be
interpreted to make the maximum disclaimer or limitation permitted by
the applicable state law. The invalidity or unenforceability of any
provision of this agreement shall not void the remaining provisions.

1.F.6. INDEMNITY - You agree to indemnify and hold the Foundation, the
trademark owner, any agent or employee of the Foundation, anyone
providing copies of Project Gutenberg-tm electronic works in accordance
with this agreement, and any volunteers associated with the production,
promotion and distribution of Project Gutenberg-tm electronic works,
harmless from all liability, costs and expenses, including legal fees,
that arise directly or indirectly from any of the following which you do
or cause to occur: (a) distribution of this or any Project Gutenberg-tm
work, (b) alteration, modification, or additions or deletions to any
Project Gutenberg-tm work, and (c) any Defect you cause.

Section 2. Information about the Mission of Project Gutenberg-tm

Project Gutenberg-tm is synonymous with the free distribution of
electronic works in formats readable by the widest variety of computers
including obsolete, old, middle-aged and new computers. It exists
because of the efforts of hundreds of volunteers and donations from
people in all walks of life.

Volunteers and financial support to provide volunteers with the
assistance they need, is critical to reaching Project Gutenberg-tm's
goals and ensuring that the Project Gutenberg-tm collection will
remain freely available for generations to come. In 2001, the Project
Gutenberg Literary Archive Foundation was created to provide a secure
and permanent future for Project Gutenberg-tm and future generations.
To learn more about the Project Gutenberg Literary Archive Foundation
and how your efforts and donations can help, see Sections 3 and 4
and the Foundation web page at http://www.pglaf.org.

Section 3. Information about the Project Gutenberg Literary Archive
Foundation

The Project Gutenberg Literary Archive Foundation is a non profit
501(c)(3) educational corporation organized under the laws of the
state of Mississippi and granted tax exempt status by the Internal
Revenue Service. The Foundation's EIN or federal tax identification
number is 64-6221541. Its 501(c)(3) letter is posted at
http://pglaf.org/fundraising. Contributions to the Project Gutenberg
Literary Archive Foundation are tax deductible to the full extent
permitted by U.S. federal laws and your state's laws.

The Foundation's principal office is located at 4557 Melan Dr. S.
Fairbanks, AK, 99712., but its volunteers and employees are scattered
throughout numerous locations. Its business office is located at
809 North 1500 West, Salt Lake City, UT 84116, (801) 596-1887, email

Section 4. Information about Donations to the Project Gutenberg
Literary Archive Foundation

Project Gutenberg-tm depends upon and cannot survive without wide
spread public support and donations to carry out its mission of
increasing the number of public domain and licensed works that can be
freely distributed in machine readable form accessible by the widest
array of equipment including outdated equipment. Many small donations
($1 to $5,000) are particularly important to maintaining tax exempt
status with the IRS.

The Foundation is committed to complying with the laws regulating
charities and charitable donations in all 50 states of the United
States. Compliance requirements are not uniform and it takes a
considerable effort, much paperwork and many fees to meet and keep up
with these requirements. We do not solicit donations in locations
where we have not received written confirmation of compliance. To
SEND DONATIONS or determine the status of compliance for any
particular state visit http://pglaf.org

While we cannot and do not solicit contributions from states where we
have not met the solicitation requirements, we know of no prohibition
against accepting unsolicited donations from donors in such states who
approach us with offers to donate.

International donations are gratefully accepted, but we cannot make
any statements concerning tax treatment of donations received from
outside the United States. U.S. laws alone swamp our small staff.

Please check the Project Gutenberg Web pages for current donation
methods and addresses. Donations are accepted in a number of other
ways including including checks, online payments and credit card
donations. To donate, please visit: http://pglaf.org/donate

Section 5. General Information About Project Gutenberg-tm electronic
works.

Professor Michael S. Hart is the originator of the Project Gutenberg-tm
concept of a library of electronic works that could be freely shared
with anyone. For thirty years, he produced and distributed Project
Gutenberg-tm eBooks with only a loose network of volunteer support.

Project Gutenberg-tm eBooks are often created from several printed
editions, all of which are confirmed as Public Domain in the U.S.
unless a copyright notice is included. Thus, we do not necessarily
keep eBooks in compliance with any particular paper edition.

Most people start at our Web site which has the main PG search facility:

http://www.gutenberg.net

This Web site includes information about Project Gutenberg-tm,
including how to make donations to the Project Gutenberg Literary
Archive Foundation, how to help produce our new eBooks, and how to
subscribe to our email newsletter to hear about new eBooks.
