All around the world

I'd like to take a brief moment to welcome all those readers from as far away places as the USA, Estonia, France, and Yokohama and Nigeria and South America. The only continent which has not been reading is Australasia.

I'd like to say thanks as I didnt start this blog in any big desire to get a readership but I thank people for coming and lurking.

There may not be many posts in the week from today but I promise normal service to be resumed as soon as humanly possible.

With thanks and love

Henry

After the Wedding ( Efter Brylluppet)

Is a film I have spent watching after eagerly awaiting its arrival on DVD, It actually arrived with Out of the Tunnel and I have been gripped and had to watch it as I need to practise my Swedish/Danish as they are phonetically similar though they are written differently.

It is a most entertaining bittersweet film that cannot fail to cause emotions to fully express themselves from both men and women. I say that with absolute conviction and full marks to Susanne Bier for making the film exactly 2 hours long. It stars Mads Mikkelsen better known for his role as Le Chiffre in the Casino Royale Bond film and I would urge you if you if you have not seen it to buy a DVD and watch it.

I shall not post any spoilers but shall quote very badly from the New Testament instead, What does it serve a man to gain the whole world but to lose his life. Apologies for any mistakes in the quote but I feel that it is an excellent one.

The value of Nursery Rhymes

Dr. Foster went to Gloucester
In a shower of rain;
He stepped in a puddle,
Right up to his middle,
And never went there again.

Short Disruption

Henry is having a Harry Potter Day and Out of the Tunnel day.

Normal service will be resumed as soon as possible.

Floods, weather warnings

The parched even scorched earth pictures of last years summer are now well forgotten by those suffering the flood this year.

God did say he wouldnt flood the wicked but it seems its a wicked world out there and lots of people have been affected and have even died in the floods.

More people have died from flooding than from terrorism this year in Britain and yet there is no war on Flooding oh no None whatsoever and I do believe that the Thames water hosepipe ban has still not been taken off in some places... crazy or what!!

Food prices are shooting through the roof and are running at 6% well above inflation and is the government doing anything No they are burying their heads in crap and promising more flood barriers by 2010 well thats a great lot of help to the pensioners who are finding their weekly shopping bill rising by the week and bread prices becoming worse by the week.

It used to be that the only place you could buy a loaf of bread over a £1 was the Channel Islands, not so now I guess it must cost about £2 for a loaf in Jersey now.

Edit There is a fabulous article here which I urge everyone to read and I thank Ranting Stan for finding it

Labour wins in the Bye Elections

Yes that is a deliberate spelling mistake , put there specially for TB who said bye bye to Sedgefield pretty damn quickly.

Amazingly Labour have held on to these two constituencies. I wonder why... Could it be that the Tories and the Lib Dems have no real policies? No one talks about education and health anymore as we know they are going swiftly down the tubes?

Shame on the other parties for doing so little and for Ealing becoming a laughing stock by election with the parties all scrambling for the ethnic vote.

I am thinking of running away 2

France... well I figure it might be worth it as I speak the lingo.

Nice climate too plus not that many CCTV cameras. Nice and quiet retirement to write and do nothing apart from gardening and the dog.

Edit: Could cross the channel like this

Second Anniversary

Today is the second anniversary of James's death.

Before finding out about his death I had thought och the bombs don't affect me, they're something that happened to central London nothing to do with me. How wrong I was.

The rest of 2005 was a journey both to connect with the other people in that tube train that morning one of whom was Rachel and the KCU group that she set up which helped greatly to assauge my feelings of guilt and shock and also to find out the details of his last journey.

Life changing stuff and a realisation that everyone is affected by terrorist bombs as people who knew me from before suddenly realised that even they had a connection to those bombings through me, the ripples do indeed get to the farthest shores.

I am indebted to a certain family liaison officer for helping me to move on in the May of last year such that the first anniversary came and went without me even realising it as I was so busy with work I didnt have time to even think about it much.

It is only now that I feel able to write about it and share it with an unsuspecting world.

Life goes on and with it we remember our memories and take comfort and move on.

Eight Random Comments

Seems I was tagged from Rachel's blog so here goes with eight random facts about me

1) I am acquainted with both a fatality and survivors in the 7/7 bombings
2) I have met someone who worked with several people who died in 9/11
3) I have Dale Winton's autograph
4) I have seen the Queen twice close up, when I was 7 years old and 35 years old
5) I have covered J28 of the M1 to J 1 of the M18 in 17 minutes one morning by car
6) I have met Margaret Beckett MP at a wedding party and on Question Time
7) I narrowly missed sitting next to Gordon Brown on a Bmidland flight from Edinburgh to London in December 1994 Had I taken the seat number 1 next to him maybe things would be different....
8) I knew the 9th Earl of Brooke and Warwick and his two irish wolfhounds from 1997-2001

Im not going to tag anyone as that would be unfair...

From the Daily Excess

In the newspaper version sadly not able to find it online on how people can afford to live in Britain.

Many column inches given to the price of bread, and the price of lager. Bread it is true has gone up over 100% in three years a loaf used to be about 54 p as the Excess reports.

Already we pay more than our European neighbours for broadband access, the dollar is weak against the pound and is at the 26 year low of being 2 dollars to the pound...

Means nothing to me as Im not going to enter the USA whilst it keeps asking us for fingerprints and eye scans, the privacy element being important here.

More ID card nonsense

For once and only once today I find myself agreeing with David Cameron. Gordon Brown wants the ID cards but David wants border police.

Story here

As I have mentioned before ID cards are the route to slavery and I shall be forced to leave this sceptred isle if they come in for I wont want to live here anymore when I can be tracked by whatever I do outside my house.

The Doctors' Plot

It seems from the BBC that everyone concerned with the stupidly conceived bombings were doctors or medical students.

This doesn't surprise me; reason being that there were always going to be disenfranchised doctors from MTAS and when you're bitter, you can do stupid things. Hell I should know. Demoralisation in the true meaning of the word means losing your morals as well as your morale. Morals are what keep society functioning.

Blame well that's another story but the reasons behind this effect are clear.

Causative factors are not often taken in to account. If you are going to make 10000 doctors unemployed from August consider that 10 of them( just 0.01% may be susceptible to being led astray by Al-Qaeda) ; that probably wouldn't happen if they were employed come August for they wouldn't have the time to entertain such notions.

Having said that and been prepared with my asbestos overcoat for the flaming to start I condemn the actions of these people, no matter how disenfranchised you are its not right to burn a Jeep in front of Glasgow airport.

More light relief

The Daily Mash have a wonderful story on how the bombs weren't scary enough.

This is proper encouraging reporting. The only terror I feel when I see these incendiary devices on TV is oh damn now more shoddy laws are going to be passed and my own promise to emigrate when the laws become insane is getting ever nearer.

I shouldn't have to live in fear of what the government intend to pass as laws

Now that's real terrorism for you

On a more serious note

One of the people arrested over the weekend is a Junior Doctor.

This is a worrying development a) his name should not have been released to the BBC media packhounds here and b) what ever happened to a man from such and such place is helping police with their enquiries.

Even if he is innocent his life is now ruined beyond compare as his name has been circulated on a news website read by millions.

Why can the government not realise that by disaffecting their doctors they are doing themselves a disservice.

Disaffected junior doctors from a British Muslim background are going to be ripe for the plucking for the Al Qaeda recruiters. No job , no prospects and a mortgage and all sorts of other bills to pay and highly intelligent and bitter. A lethal combination.

Yes I am blaming government policy. Everything the government do has a knock on effect on everything else

You can't make 10000 junior doctors unemployed with out a ripple like effect affecting the widest possible shores and why someone in the government hasn't understood this is beyond stupidity it falls into the moronic.

It seems the lunatics really are running the asylum.

It had to be done! Light relief needed

Two By-Elections

Tony Blair resigned as an MP last week and the Labour candidate for Ealing Southall died suddenly also at the ripe age of 82.

This means there are by-elections taking place on the 19th of July in both Constituencies namely Sedgefield and Ealing Southall

Remedy UK are planning to field two candidates.

I would urge you if you read this blog ( I hope someone somewhere reads it) to urge your friends and mates and whoever else you know in those constituencies to vote for their Remedy UK candidates so that the junior doctors can have a voice in Parliament.
After all if 10000 junior doctors lives have been blighted by this governments' disastrous management then its about time we fought back.

Use your vote wisely!
